My Story
I was born in England to military parents, and we moved back to the states before I was two years old. I grew up in a small town in Washington State where most of my family still resides. My town had little to do as a child except play sports. I played volleyball, softball, track and field, and cross-country; but the first time I dribbled a basketball, I fell in love. I played for my school and in every AAU tournament I could find in the off-season. After high school, my goal was to play college ball but I ended up joining the Air Force instead.
After spending four years on active duty in the Air Force I was ready to focus on my education and transitioned into the Navy Reserves and have been serving in the reserves ever since. I completed my undergraduate degree in Kinesiology at Western Washington University as well as my graduate degree in Applied Sport and Performance Psychology at Holy Names University.
Through my education, life experiences, and reflection, I learned that growing up my whole identity revolved around being an athlete. When I was no longer playing basketball, I had no idea who I was or what I was going to do with my life. I joined the military to let them decide for me. Feeling lost and confused about my life led me to the study of Sport and Performance Psychology.
I have worked with a range of clients from youth athletes, elite athletes, college teams, Army ROTC cadets, fitness members - both experienced, and novice, and more. Regardless of the performance, anyone can benefit from mental skills coaching!
My mission is to work collaboratively with you to create sustainable mental skills programs to enhance whatever performance is important to you.
The 4 C's in my Philosophy of Practice
Collaboration - You and I will work together as a team; each experts in our own field - you are the expert of yourself and your experiences, and I am the expert in mental skills training. Together we will create a program that is designed specifically for you and your goals.
Core Values - These are traits that are innately important to you - your 'why,' and your compass when navigating challenging situations.
Client Views & Experiences - How you experience, interpret, and communicate different situations will be key to your successes.
Creative Approach - Through research, education, and experience, we will work together and find the most optimal path forward.
"I am the product of the flames which burnt me; the anvil which forged me; and the will that made me grow formidable instead of breaking."
